I think they WILL get people to sign up.

This is because todays average pet owner is L A Z Y.

A quick online course and they will have a trained dog, without really investing any time and effort into the dog.

I assist with dog training class. Its a 10 week class where by the end of that time the dog is performing the AKC Novice Obedience test for graduation.

Do you know that we have always had a 50% attrition rate.

Now we have modified the class and eliminated graduation-because the people that stuck with it through the whole class would not show up for that.

Todays average dog owner wants to bribe and cajole their dog into perhaps listening on the tenth or twentieth command. After all its much easier to feed the dog a cookie then train it.

So yes they will get plenty of lazy pet owners to buy into their product.

I bet it’s information that has been all but plagiarized out of current research and training practices. I bet it’s reworded NILIF training and they try to sucker money out of you to pay for something you can get for FREE at the library.

I’ve seen many sites similar to this. "Look what we offer! Now pay x amount to buy our secrets." Or "give us your email address and we’ll send you our secrets worth $X." I don’t trust what has a monetary value if I can get it for free at the library or google.

Standard poodles and maybe miniature poodles should be put in the sporting group.

Well, for me daschunds are the best choice of breed, so well done on that. I also think – judging by everyones answers – that you should start as early as possible. Daschunds really deserve a nice name like Koko. Whatever the name is, make sure it’s not something like Dahpne. I would also recommend a dog training service such as "Lead The Dog". How far you go with your dog is up to you, but the sooner you start, the better for your dog.

Great choice teaching your dog manners at an early age. I would go as soon as the school allows, which usually is after the puppy's second round of shots. Until then, you can work on socializing your puppy, and introducing it to new people, dogs (ones that you know they are fully vaccinated), and situations. Good luck

Start training your pup asap! The sooner the better and hopefully it will take a much shorter period to train him/her
